On this day 156 years ago, American author Laura Ingalls Wilder was born. Wilder is known for her semi-autobiographical series, "Little House

 in which she shares stories about the hardships and joys of growing up on the American frontier during the late 1800s. Wilder began writing these books in 1930, 

"with the encouragement and editorial assistance of her daughter, journalist Rose Wilder Lane"
