Madeleine Albright, the first woman to serve as U.S. Sec. of State, passed away at age 84. Albright was born in Czechoslovakia two years before WWII. When Nazis invaded the country in 1939, she fled with her family to London. When she was 11, her family claimed asylum in the U.S. as the Soviet Union took over portions of Eastern Europe. Albright went on to become a journalist, professor and diplomat — providing foreign policy council to many American leaders and advocating for human rights & democracy around the world.
