Former President Donald Trump as left the Washington D.C. courthouse on Thursday. This is his third arraignment on criminal charges.

The Big Picture: Former President Trump pleaded not guilty on four felony charges that accuse him of trying to overturn the 2020 election results. He appeared in a federal courtroom in Washington D.C. on Thursday.

According to CBS News, the judge released Trump "...under the conditions that he not violate federal law and appear in court when required."

The next hearing is set for August 28th.

Why It Matters: This is former President Trump's third arraignment on criminal charges. He is the first former president to face a criminal indictment. He denies any wrongdoing and alleges these legal proceedings are "election interference" - an attempt by his political opponents to impact the 2024 president election.
