Big Picture: Haines testified alongside other leaders in the intelligence community, including the CIA Director William Burns and FBI Director Christopher Wray, and discussed the intelligence community's assessment of current worldwide threats. These threats include China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, Climate Change and Environmental Degradation, and Health Security. The leaders will testify in front of the House Intelligence Committee on Thursday to discuss the same topics.

Why It Matters: As the leaders share the U.S.' priorities regarding national security this week and answer questions from members of the Senate and House, CBS News explains these hearings "offer a rare opportunity for lawmakers and the public to hear directly from intelligence leaders, whose agencies do not offer regular press briefings and whose activities and budgets are partly or mostly classified."
