Canadian Defense Minister Anita Anand during a news conference confirming the U.S. shot down an unidentified object over Canadian airspace.

Why It Matters: This is the third object shot down by the U.S. in a week and the second in roughly 24 hours.
Meanwhile, airspace in Montana was momentarily closed and then reopened during the same day. It isn't entirely clear (as of the reporting Saturday night) if the two events are connected or these are separate incidents.
Who/What:
“We are continuing to do the analysis on the object and we will make sure that analysis is thorough. It would not be prudent for me to speculate on the origins of the object at this time.” Anand
Where: About 100 miles north of the U.S./Canadian border in the "central Yukon."
When: Approximately 3:40 p.m. est.
How: U.S. F-22 Fighter Jet
Why: We don't know what the object was flying over Canada. We do not know why it was flying where it was. This leaves a range of possibilities on the table TBD. An interesting tidbit? Just yesterday Minister Anand met with Sec. of Defense Austin at the Pentagon on a series of issues including the "modernization" of NORAD.
