University of Virginia President James Ryan in a letter to the university following a campus shooting late Sunday night.

What to Know: Shots were fired on campus around 10:30 PM on Sunday. The suspected shooter, a current student, was arrested late Monday morning. The Associated Press reports: "Ryan identified the three students who were killed as: Devin Chandler, Lavel Davis Jr. and D’Sean Perry. He said one of the wounded students was hospitalized in critical condition, and the other was in good condition." This is a developing story.
In the letter released early Monday morning, Ryan wrote, “This is a message any leader hopes never to have to send, and I am devastated that this violence has visited the University of Virginia. This is a traumatic incident for everyone in our community.”
