“If I can bring a smile and awe to a little child or help cure up somebody who’s a little blue, it’s all worth it.”
Neil Lebowitz, whose family donated the 2022 Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. The 82-foot-tall tree travelled 200 miles from Queensbury, New York to Manhattan.

This Year’s Tree: Rockefeller Center's head gardener, Erik Pauze, has scouted for the perfect Rockefeller tree for the past 30 years. This year's tree – which Pauze spotted while on a walk – grew outside a family home and passed his criteria as "A tree that you would want in your living room for Christmas." It will be decorated with around 50,000 multicolored lights and a 900-pound Swarovski star which is "covered in 3 million crystals" (USA Today).
The official tree lighting ceremony is scheduled for November 30th.
Did You Know? The Rockefeller Christmas tree tradition began in 1931. The tallest tree ever featured was in 1999 at 100 feet.
