- Monday marked the beginning of the USPS's busiest week.
- USPS expects to process almost 2.3 million mail items.
- With the increase in delivery traffic during the holiday season (also called "peak season"), Postmaster General DeJoy said, "Now is the time to mail your holiday greetings and packages to make sure they reach their intended destination in time for holiday gatherings and celebrations."
Holiday Bonus: Where Do The Notes To Santa Go? The USPS has a 109-year-old holiday program called Operation Santa. Children (and adults) who send a letter to the "North Pole" may have an opportunity for their wish to come true with a little Christmas magic! The USPS program provides a platform to link anonymous participants with letters - and those who "adopt" a letter can send a note (or even a gift) to the writer. Christmas letters to the "North Pole" must be postmarked by Wednesday, December 15th, and participants can "adopt" and respond with a note and/or gift via USPS's website until Wednesday, December 22.
