- The U.S. State Dept. has designated the Haqqani Network as a foreign terrorist organization. Some describe it as having "ties" to al Qaeda; others describe it as al Qaeda.
- The FBI has offered a $10 million reward for information resulting in the arrest of the new interior minister.
- The Afghanistan government only has Taliban officials in charge - no women & no former government officials from past leadership roles.
Why It Matters: After 20 years of war that had the goal of preventing Afghanistan from once again becoming a safe haven for terrorists to operate, train and plan attacks against the U.S. and others, this concern returns with the Taliban-dominated government.
