- Several mitigation efforts have been used to blunt the spread of COVID in schools and amongst children over the last year: social distancing, ventilation, masking and using pods (smaller class sizes).
- Various school districts will continue all, some or no mitigation efforts. Dr. Gottlieb warned against doing away with all of them while we are still learning about the delta variant.
Why It Matters: COVID cases continue to increase as children return to school - with uncertainty about whether the new delta variant is more dangerous and deadly for children.
